A Master of Philosophy is an advanced postgraduate Research that is typically obtained from a research of one to three very intensive academic years. This is one of the most prestigious Masters one can obtain, and it provides the perfect roadmap for those who wish to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at the next level of their educational careers. Students will learn the necessary research skills and specialist knowledge needed to one day complete a dissertation. Students who successfully complete a Masters of Philosophy will gain an invaluable introduction to the challenges and levels of commitment imperative to one day complete your doctorate.
By the time this master is awarded, students are well on their way to completing the research and qualifying for the defense of their dissertation. It is a master that serves as the bridge between your bachelor's and your Ph.D. Some students view this master as a time-consuming formality and will opt out of it if they are candidates for a Ph.D. program. However, there are some schools that require students to officially receive this master first.
There are not many available jobs specific to teaching with just a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), but the good news is that you will graduate qualified to do a plethora of things career wise. Unlike many higher level awards, a master’s in this field does not set you down one specific career path, but it sets you up to be a capable and successful member of society.
